Swan Valley Tours don’t have just bus drivers, we have driver/guides who look after every aspect of the tour experience and ensure everything runs smoothly, sometimes under very trying situations. We are very proud of all of our team –
Keith – My career has been in Television Production in both London and Perth. I have been Executive Producer/Director in the Sport and Events Department with projects all over the world, including Formula One, Test Cricket and The Olympics for BBC television. Before joining Swan Valley Tours, I was a Team Leader with a Perth Hills volunteer Bush Fire Brigade, and helped out at The Chidlow Marsupial Hospital. My interests, apart from drinking Wine (when not working) are my animals, which include: a Clydesdale Horse, 2 Miniature Donkeys and 3 Rescue Dogs, 2 Border Collies and a Golden Retriever.
Ed – Before working for SVT as a driver/guide I had a career as an Architectural Technician for 50 years and worked in the UK and South Africa as well as Australia. On leaving South Africa 3 friends and I undertook an extensive overland trip back to UK in a VW Kombi travelling via East Africa, India, Kashmir, Pakistan, the Middle East and Europe. I migrated to Australia in 1983 & settled initially in Brisbane before moving to Perth in 1989. My main interests and hobbies are travelling, photography, music and of course wine!
Ivan – I have been in Australia for 47 years, came out as a butcher there was no work in my trade so I went to work as a labourer in the building trade but housing slumped.
MTT which is now Transperth were looking for drivers ,as I had driven trucks before I went to work for them for 7 years .Then back to the building trade for another 2 years then no work again .Managed to get a job in a Manufacturing Factory as a labour worked my way up there to a leading hand then shift supervisor after a while to Site supervisor stayed there for 32 years then time to retire as I thought. Then later asked to work for SVTours and have been here for over 2 years now .As I have always worked around people and having a laugh and meeting people from all over .Also now a fun day out and Swan Valley is a nice place to drive around the people in the wineries are so
Karen – I began life in the UK but my itchy feet and a love of sunshine led me to emigrate to Western Australia 10 years ago. After working in office environments for a while the lure of the sunshine finally motivated me to find a position where I could enjoy the beautiful Australian weather. Securing a position at Perth College as a House Mother with driving duties, which included taking the girls to various venue’s and functions, enabled me to gain the necessary coach driving qualifications necessary for carrying passengers. Looking for more sociable hours, Swan Valley Tours, with their excellent reputation for quality tours in the beautiful Swan Valley caught my attention so made the move over 4 years ago to be a driver/tour guide for the Company. Now I enjoy the beautiful sunshine from the seat of my coach, spending time amongst the wineries with great people from all over the world
Terri – I worked for Telstra for almost 20 years until redundancy in 2013. As well as working with Swan Valley Tours, I am a weight loss consultant and do casual work for an Events business. In the summer months, I am involved with drag racing as a crew member for my brother and sister-in-law, who have been very successful nationally over the past few years. During my quiet time, I enjoy reading, looking into local history, gardening (I have a number of fruit trees and am setting up some more vegetable beds), and renovating my old house. I love driving, meeting new people, and studying the history of Perth and its surrounds, so my job at Swan Valley Tours is a perfect match for me, and one that absolutely love!
Graham – our retired driver guide who we keep coaxing out of retirement. All the best with your treatment and wishing you back to health soon
Phil Peirce who tragically died whilst on holiday last year. Still sadly missed.
and not forgetting Jenny, April and Adele, who do such a great job behind the scenes.
Jenny – I’m a country girl at heart, spending my early years on a 6000 acre wheat & sheep farm, outside a very small town, in the eastern wheat belt. Being a tomboy, I love being outdoors in the fresh air & sunshine & enjoying nature, so anything like gardening & travelling is a must for me. I like testing myself with a good challenge, so I look for something different to do, that I can work towards achieving. In general, I love life & I love to enjoy the simple things in life, like my loving family & my great friends. Having worked in administration for different Cos for a No of years, I have been very lucky landing on my feet, working for Swan Valley Tours for the last 9 years. I love working with such a close knit group of great people, who like me, like to deliver the best possible service, which also happens to make my job easier, which I also like. I enjoy organising winery tours for people, ensuring that they are getting the best service & value for their money. I particularly love it when we have passengers who come back to us time & time again!
Adele – I’m a local girl growing up in Guildford, and spent a lot of time as a teen hanging out in the Swan Valley with friends. I recently married my high-school sweetheart on Adele Island in New Zealand. I’ve been working for Swan Valley Tours for approximately 8 years and love it, it’s a perfect balance between work & play. I’m a laid back, nature loving, creative & crafty person, I love to keep myself busy by always having some kind of project on the go. I also enjoy live music and sport.
Kim – I was born in Bunbury on 1 January 1964, and lived in Perth for most of my life, although spent about a year travelling Europe before having children. I was a piano teacher for about 12 years whilst my two daughters were young and also did a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Cultural Heritage Studies. I majored in Australian Heritage and brought that with me when I started Australian Heritage Tours in 2001. As the Swan Valley had many historic sites and is close to Perth, this area was the logical choice for a day tour. It didn’t take long to realise that people were more interested in drinking than history so Swan Valley Tours was born.
Today I share my time in the office and being a driver/guide, which allows me to be ‘hands on’ in both areas. I enjoy the interaction with people the most and have meet so many interesting people from all over the globe. I have a wonderful team in both the admin and driving side who can ‘hold the fort’ while I’m away. So I am now getting back to travelling around Europe again, this time with my partner Mike, as well as little trips to Melbourne to visit my brother and nephew.
When not working I enjoy gardening, movies, cycling and taking the dog to the beach when the weather allows. Most of all I love spoiling my 2 beautiful granddaughters when they stay over at Nanna Kim’s place.
